I Am Pilgrim: A Thriller – December 2, 2014
by Terry Hayes (Author)
First of all let me say that I like to read a book in one go, if i can. This book was unfortunately not one of them. Around 700ish pages long it was a book which took me forever to finish. I would put it down but something always made me go back and read some more.Since I did finish it you can imagine that it must be interesting.
The book starts off with a murder in a New York hotel. A girl is found soaked in a bathtub full of acid and her teeth removed. Pilgrim is the chosen code name of a guy who doesn’t want to exist and is called out of retirement to solve the series of unexpected crimes. Meanwhile across the globe, in Saudia there is a young guy whose father is beheaded for criticizing the King. He dedicates his life to Islam and also to destroy US since they support the King.
The whole book is a thrilling tale of how the Pilgrim not only solves the crimes but also stops the boy before he does something wrong. The book moves from one country to another which makes it more interesting.
The book does drag on at some points which makes you want to skip pages, however it is interesting enough that you do want to know what happens next. I really wished the author would have omitted going too much into detail about the unnecessary stuff.
Also some facts in the book do not make sense and you will be thinking to yourself “Really???” But overall the suspense makes up for these kinds of loopholes.
Best part is that it is going to be turned into a movie soon and i can’t wait to see it.
Till then
Happy Reading!!!
