Instructions
  1. Bake the cake according to the directions on the box. Cool Completely.
  2. If the top or bottom of the cake seems a bit hard, scrape it off. This step is necessary so you do not end up with hard cake pops.
  3. Crumble the cake in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add 1/2 of the frosting to the crumbled cake and mix well. The end result will be moist.
  5. Make approx. 1.25″ balls. Cover and put them in the refrigerator to chill for atleast 30 mins.
  6. Choose candy melts of your choice.
  7. Put the candy melts in a microwavable bowl and melt according to the directions. You can also use a double-boiler or a fondue pot, but make sure not to over-heat the candy.
  8. Take the lollipop sticks out of the packaging.
  9. Dip the end of the stick into the melted candy.
  10. Insert the dipped end into the cake balls. Do not go beyond half way through.
  11. Dip the entire cake ball into the melted candy and cover it completely. Avoid the urge to rotate the cake ball as it might fall off. Remove with one quick motion. While the coating is still wet, add sprinkles/glitter of your choice.
  12. Make your own cake pop stand using floral/regular styrofoam and foil.
  13. Stick the cake pops into the stand and let them dry.
  14. Repeat the process with all the remaining cake balls and enjoy!!!.
Recipe Notes
  • You can use any flavor of cake and frosting in this recipe.

  • If the cake is soft, you do not need to scrape off the top or bottom of the cake.

  • Food processor can also be used to crumble the cake.

  • You can bake the cake a day ahead and let it cool in the refrigerator.

  • Cookie sticks can also be used instead of lollipop sticks.

  • You can use any kind of candy melt in this recipe.

  • If the melted candy is too thick, add vegetable oil or paramount crystals to thin it out.

  • Dipping the end of the stick before inserting into the cake ball is necessary so that the cake ball does not slide off the stick once it dries.

  • Do not use frozen cake balls because they will crack the coating once dry.

  • If you are using regular Styrofoam, make sure to poke holes around 2″ apart before you start making cake pops. This is necessary because regular Styrofoam is harder as compared to Floral Styrofoam.

  • Cover the cake pops individually in Treat Bags to make them more presentable.
